I’m Katy, the new Assistant Administrator for Live & Local. I work full time and I’m here to support the Company Administrator, Kirsty, with the day-to-day running of the office. I am a point of contact for any Community Touring Scheme, Big Picture Show and financial enquiries and, if you call the office, chances are that you’ll get through to me first.
I’ve had a pretty varied work history with everything from a being an Assistant Buyer on a Toys team – unfortunately it wasn’t quite like Tom Hanks in Big – to selling handmade soap. Most recently, I was working for Warwick University as an Assistant Programme Administrator supporting the PhD Business students and academics. I come from a performing arts background, with a degree in theatre from Coventry University, so going to see our excellent Live & Local shows is really exciting.
I got to see my first show just one week after I started at Live & Local, which was Badapple Theatre’s The Unlikely Dads at Bishampton Villages Hall. Both the audience and performers really enjoyed it and the effort put in by the volunteer promoters was fantastic; I especially liked the ice cream that was brought round in the interval! I can’t wait to see more shows next season.
When I’m not administrating you can find me in Leamington Spa usually cooking, baking, blogging, planning my travels, taking pictures, listening to music, watching films, reading books, drinking tea, going to the gym and making lists. You will rarely find me sitting still! I have two fantastic big brothers so have grown up with a love of all things 80’s, especially Star Wars, Ghostbusters and Thundercats. My favourite sport is roller derby– an all-female, full-contact sport played at high speed on roller skates (proper ones, not blades!). I played for derby for over three years with the Coventry City Derby Dolls and spent some time as the Team Captain.
I’m really excited to have joined Live & Local, and hopefully I’ll talk to you soon,
