SELL OUT SUCCESS IN CHESTERFIELD

The Friends of Eastwood Park in Hasland, Chesterfield, recently held their very first Live & Local event when they hosted An Evening with Gordon Giltrap at Hasland Village Hall. Gill Horn, Treasurer of Friends of Eastwood Park shares her report from the evening:

“On Tuesday 24 March, Gordon Giltrap played to a sell out audience of 150 locals and fans from some quite far flung places. One gentleman came all the way from Germany to see him and spent some time at the end of the show chatting with his ‘hero’.

Gordon played a wonderful selection of music on his collection of six guitars and in between he entertained us all with witty anecdotes about his life on tour with other famous guitarists and bands.

The range of music was stunning and his performance of his, perhaps most famous’ piece, Heartsong (from the BBC Holiday programme), was just out of this world and produced one of many standing ovations.

The Friends of Eastwood Park are a voluntary group of people who work hard all year round to promote usage of the Hall and the Park for community events. Two years ago it underwent a complete refurbishment with money from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and this spring sees the completion of a new sports Pavilion. The Friends are once again organising the annual Gala Day on Sunday 14 June.

The Friends’ next Live & Local event will be improvised comedy-theatre show, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, starring Kevin Tomlinson from Kepow Theatre. Tickets are already on sale so we will look forward to another great evening.”

Congratulations to everyone at Friends of Eastwood Park on a hugely successful first event and many thanks to Gill for sharing her report.
