We’re delighted to announce that Big Picture Show is bringing the cinema experience to villages in Staffordshire thanks to funding support from Staffordshire County Council and Film Hub North West Central: proud to be a part of the BFI Film Audience Network.
The launch of Big Picture Show kicked off with two packed out screenings of the popular British drama Philomena, hosted by promoter groups at Acton Trussell Community Centre (Stafford) and Alton Village Hall (Cheadle). In attendance were local audiences and representatives from community groups from across the county interested in hosting cinema screenings, so information and advice about Big Picture Show was on offer – alongside the complimentary drinks and popcorn!
Big Picture Show is available to rural community groups throughout Staffordshire and we have already confirmed six screenings in the New Year, so any groups aiming to take advantage of the introductory special offer should get their Christmas skates on!
This Thursday (18 December), as a gift to the community, Elford Village Hall will screen the Martin Freeman hit film NATIVITY!
NATIVITY!, which was filmed in the Midlands, sees primary school teacher Paul Maddens (Martin Freeman) take on the biggest challenge of his life – mounting the school’s musical version of the Nativity. Competing against the posh neighbouring school for the honour of the best reviewed show in town, the stakes are raised when Paul idly boasts that his ex-girlfriend Jennifer (Ashley Jensen), a Hollywood producer, is coming to see his show with a view to turning it into a film. The only trouble is – they haven’t spoken in years!
The screening starts at 7pm.
Tickets are £5 (£2.50 Under 12) and include a drink and popcorn. Please contact the box office on 01827 383567 to book your tickets.
