Great news! Live & Local secures Arts Council funding

We are very pleased to announce that Live & Local has been successful in securing continued funding from Arts Council England (ACE) as a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) for the three-year period 2015-18. This followed a competitive application process in which ACE received far more bids for funding than they could support.

National Portfolio funding is awarded to organisations to help achieve ACE’s goal of ‘Great Art & Culture for Everyone’. ACE describes the National Portfolio as: A rich variety of organisations across the country, reflecting the real quality and excellence of the arts in England. Strenuous efforts have been made to ensure that ambition, artistic exploration and pioneering spirit are kept alive, that great work can continue, that inspirational leadership is developed and supported, and that a vibrant countrywide ecology is, as far as possible, maintained.

John Laidlaw, Executive Director, Live & Local said: “We are delighted that ACE continues to recognise the value of our work. Their vital investment will enable thousands of people to continue to enjoy professional live performances in almost 180 communities across Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire; most of them in rural areas. It is a great endorsement of the hard work of the volunteers the years.”

Live & Local is also financially supported by Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire County Councils as well as the District and Borough Councils in which we work. Although public funding makes our work possible, it happens because of the hard work and commitment of our volunteer promoters, and the continuing buoyancy of our audience numbers.

  1. Congratulations – I know from my work with New Perspectives how much work goes into these bids and what a relief it is when the notification comes through!

    1. Thanks Gerard – it’s always nerve-wracking as we wait to find out if we’ve been successful. We’re all excited (and a little relieved) to be able to focus on the next three years now. Sarah
