In March this year we held our annual Promoter Meetings. They are a great opportunity for the Live & Local team, and local authority officers, to meet many of the new and existing promoters. It’s a fantastic chance to share knowledge and experiences with each other and resolve any queries. These meetings are also the point in the year at which we introduce the wide selection of shows that will be available to our rural venues in the 2014-15 season – it’ll be here before we know it!
The meetings took place in Church Lawford (Warwickshire), Great Witley (Worcestershire), Hill Ridware (Staffordshire) and Tansley (Derbyshire). As usual our hosts made us feel extremely welcome with plenty of support when it came to setting up and clearing away, and with lots of enthusiasm for the evening.
The evening also enabled us to provide an update on Live & Local audience figures and funding support from Arts Council England and the local authorities.
Sarah, our Marketing Officer, introduced a project we are involved in with The Audiences Agency, gathering marketing data about people who attend Live & Local shows. And in Warwickshire we also heard from promoters who have been taking part in our rural cinema scheme, Big Picture Show.
Sarah also introduced the new menu (annual shortlist of shows which the promoters can choose from), highlighting shows from different genres that are available for the 2014-15 season. We concluded the evening with a short performance from one of those shows.
It was a useful and enjoyable evening and we’d like to thank all the promoter groups that came along. Many of you exchanged contact details and made use of the chance to discuss your plans for show requests. Thank you also to Kepow Theatre Company and to Carlos Munoz Villalobos and Leo Turner for entertaining us.
