The Live & Local team pick out the shows they are most looking forward to this season.

John, our Director, is looking forward to seeing The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists “I missed seeing this show last season so I will be making sure that I have a front row seat this time round, especially as this show has had some fantastic reviews. I also have a vested interest in the show as I have a long standing history with Neil Gore, which involves a narrow boat and a couple of whiskies!”

Fiona, our Projects and Partnerships Officer has got her eye on a toe tapping performance “I’m looking forward to a performance by The Atlantics and I want to see audiences wearing their dancing shoes. I think it’s a mark of appreciation when an audience feel inspired to get on their feet; there are some types of music that need to be danced to. Many Live & Local and Shindig venues are village halls, where dancing to live music was once a regular weekend activity. Oh, and what to wear……?”

Sarah, our Marketing Officer, has opted for edge of your seat action with a tribute to classic crime-fighting movies and comic books, “I am particularly looking forward to seeing Bane 1 next season. I saw Bane 2 at a festival earlier this year and I was really impressed with the unique way the show was performed; Joe Bone’s control of each scene, performing the dialogue, every action and every sound effect without any set or props was just outstanding. Seeing another instalment in the trilogy in one of our venues is going to be such a treat!”

Jane, our nocturnal Bookkeeper, has been overwhelmed by the choice and can’t decide between two! “I love the look of Muha in Concert, as the sheer variety of musical flavours promised must mean these will be colourful and fun evenings. Where else would you be able to experience four continents’ musical influence in one night.”

In contrast Jane has also opted for a piece comedy that is firmly tongue-in-cheek – The Lighthouse on Shivering Sands “This sounds like an amazing show, surreal, fun and something the audience can really enjoy laughing out loud too – hopefully a lot!! I’m looking forward to some really inventive and absorbing story telling.”

Carly, our Administration Assistant, has been rather taken by an evening inspired by the spectacular Dorset and East Devon Coast “I’m particularly excited about seeing Jurassic Journey, being a huge fan of nature documentaries, this show with its breath taking imagery and colourful narrative I’m sure will be something spectacularly different for the village hall.”

Becky, our Marketing Assistant, is looking forward to welcoming her first season with a high energy evening with Ceilidhography “When ever I’ve been to a ceilidh before I have always had great fun, I am really looking forward to this ‘super-funked-up ceilidh band’ and their take on a long standing tradition. It will also be a great chance to blow away some cobwebs and have a good fling around the dance floor!”
