Check out our website for details of Live & Local shows coming up across Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire this spring.
Theatre highlights include Two Gents Productions’ Hamlet (Warwickshire), where two actors, two props and two cultures converge in this lively adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic. New Perspectives Theatre brings lovable characters to life in their unsentimental adaptation of Lark Rise to Candleford where a young girl finds herself torn between her love of the countryside and the lure of the town. Town and country also collide in Badapple Theatre Company’s latest play, Back to the Land Girls. Cherished stories of WWII are brought to life in this comendy about the hilarious highs and lows of life in the Women’s Land Army.
We’ve got great music too; Lament are a dynamic Warwickshire five piece whose sizzling global flavours in Latin Fiesta Rhythmic Explosion! will have you dancing in no time! We’re also delighted to welcome back Hilary James and Simon Mayor with their show, Hoagy, Hornpipes, Handel and Hoedown. This experienced duo will knock your socks off with their talented musicianship, stunning vocals and friendly banter. The Daniel Smith Blues Band will also make a return in an evening of effortless boogie woogie, honky tonk and slow blues.
And for younger audiences (and the young at heart) we’ve got a selection of exciting shows: Oxfordshire Theatre Company will lead you down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland (Staffordshire); Lempen Puppet Theatre will transport you around the world in Journey of the Turtle (Derbyshire) and Moby Duck will take you back to Ancient Greece in the really gory story of The Mazemaker (Warwickshire). For something really different for all ages, we’ve also got Xolisile’s Song where performers from South Africa and the North East of England use dance, storytelling and live music in a moving piece of theatre specially commissioned for village halls.
